Jon has been involved in the sport of Taekwondo since 1994, after the birth of his second daughter he had a number of years off, reutrning to full time training in early 2002 with both daughters in tow.
In August 2004 Jon undertook his Referee's Qualification. This course is Nationally recognised and enables him to referee at Club, State and National competitions. In September 2004 Jon achieved his Black Belt 1st Dan.
In July 2005 he achieved his National Coaching Accreditation level 1, this qualification is essential under Taekwondo Australia regulations to be a Branch Instructor, and also enables him to coach players at Club, State and National competitions.
In October 2006 the Surrey Downs branch of Just Kicks Taekwondo opened with Jon as branch instructor and his daughter Olivia as assistant instructor.
In June 2007 Jon achieved his Black Belt 2nd Dan, and in September 2007 competed in the Taekwondo Australia Open and National Championships held in Adelaide and received a Gold medal in his division.
In May 2008 Jon competed in the Tans Open Tournament in Queensland and received a Silver medal in his division.
