SA Taekwondo League Finals: June 9th, Total Taekwondo Centre

    Raptors vs Warriors

    Round 3 Summary (May 15th)

Congratulations to the Total Tigers and the Just Kicks Grasshoppers! They will be fighting for the grand prize and perpetual trophy. Raptors and Warriors will be battling for 3rd and 4th placing. We look forward to the finals on Saturday 9th June. It's going to be a great showdown! Come and support your team... or watch some spectacular Taekwondo action!

    Round 2 Summary (April 14th)

Well done to all competitors and all teams. We look forward to round 3 on the 5th may. Please confirm your teams ASAP. The end of round 3 will confirm the two top teams to play off for first and second place in the finals, which the winning team takes home the perpetual plaque and a prize. Also there is a prize for the player who has the highest average score over the 4 rounds.

Good luck to all teams for Round 3!

    SA Taekwondo League Team

The SA League Team is a team Vs team competition. All points scored is added together and which ever team has the highest points wins the grand final, also winning a team prize.

After round 3 the top 2 League teams will compete in the grand final for the prestigious first place win. Teams in 3rd and 4th place will also battle it out for final positions and players also competing for the MVP League season claiming a prize for the highest average points scored.

SA League rules are slightly different, as there is head contact for all competitors, regardless of age and experience. Full face guard protective gear is an option for the less confident.

The aim of the SA Taekwondo League is to make our participants more competitive against other states and eventually other nations. Instead of waiting to turn 14 years of age before they are allowed to fight with head contact which is standard across all other Taekwondo competitions, we start competitors straight away. This gives them more experience and confidence before they compete at the inevitable 14-17yr division who will have very experienced competitors who have been competing with head contact for up to 3 years.

Imagine sending your competitor into their first full head contact competition with no head contact experience? It's a very scary thought from the competitors views, they can't perform at their best if they are too scared and worried all month that their head is going to get knocked off by a 17 year old national champion who has been in this division for the past 3 years.

League competitors also fight 3 rounds, which is only for black belts in normal Taekwondo competitions. This gives League players an easy transition for when they compete in black belt divisions. Finally the competitors are under less pressure, as all points scored goes to their team whether they win or lose their bouts.

It's a fun way of competing and the competitions don't go all day only 2 hours. If you or your team are interested in joining our SA League please e-mail Dang.
